Bancroft George
George Bancroft acted on stage, then acted notably in 1925's The Pony Express, Underworld, Mr. Deeds Goes to Town, A Doctor's Diary, Stagecoach, and North West Mounted Police. He earned an oscar nomination for Thunderbolt in 1929. He retired in 1942, and became a rancher.

Edwina Booth, born Josephine Constance Woodruff, contracted 'jungle fever' on her 4th movie which filmed in Africa, and was deathly sick for years afterward. She sued MGM and was awarded $45,000, though she never acted again.

They were formed in 1868 as the Jolly Corks. Anti-black until the 1970's, and anti-women into the 1990's, current members are required to be US citizens over the age of 21 and believe in God.
Brophy Edward
Edward S. Brophy was an actor, voice artist, and comedian. He was in The Champ, Freaks, The Thin Man and The Thin Man Goes Home. He was the voice of Timothy the mouse in Dumbo.
Carrillo Leo
Leo Carrillo acted on stage and in films but is best known as Pancho, the sidekick in The Cisco Kid TV series. Carrillo served on the California Beach and Parks commission for 18 years and helped in the state's acquisition of Hearst Castle at San Simeon, the Los Angeles Arboretum, and the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park. He has a beach and State Park named after him.
Chorre Joseph
Joseph Chorre was a Native American, who wrestled professionally and acted in movies as Suni Warcloud - but only credited in Jim Thorpe -- All-American. He appeared in Union Pacific, North West Mounted Police, and a pair of Joe Palooka movies, among others.
Cuesta Henry
Henry Falcon Cuesta was a musician, playing with the Corpus Christi Symphony Orchestra while still in high school. Later, he was with The Lawrence Welk Show, primarily playing the clarinet.

John Dawson was a Texas Ranger, then trail blazed cattle to the western frontier. He owned Dawson Fuel Company, and the town of Dawson NM was named after him.

Evelyn Hooker was a psychologist who, in 1957, tested self-identified homosexuals and heterosexuals had experts try to classify them (unsuccessfully). It refuted the existing belief of homosexuality as a disorder.

Kuttner Henry
Henry Kuttner and his wife, Catherine Lucille Moore, wrote Line to Tomorrow, Tomorrow and Tomorrow, and others. Henry wrote six stories that were made into movies including The Twonky, The Twilight Zone/What You Need, The Eye and Trilogy of Terror II. He was named Best Sci-Fi Writer in the World by the 1940 World's Sci-Fiction Convention.
Lake Florence
Florence Lake performed with her vaudeville family as kid, co-starred in the Edgar Kennedy shorts of the 40s, and was the telephone operator on Lassie. Her father was Arthur Lake of Dagwood Bumstead fame.

Bert Lindley was a stage and mostly-uncredited movie actor of the 1920s and 30s. He appeared with William Powell and Myrna Loy in the 1936 comedy, After the Thin Man. Father of actress Audra Lindley, who is also buried here but unmarked. Audra appeared on Broadway in On Golden Pond, Long Day's Journey into Night, and Horse Heavens, but is best-known as Helen Roper on TV's Three's Company..

Hughie Mack was an undertaker who was seen sleeping on a bench and hired as another fat comedian by Vitagraph Pictures. He made over 180 silent movies and shorts.
Mann Heinrich
Heinrich Mann was an author, and brother of Nobel winner Thomas Mann. His novels attacked the nationalism, militarism, and authoritarian social structure of German life. He settled unhappily in the US after fleeing Hitler's Germany.

Catherine McLeod had small acting roles, then starred in director Frank Borzage's I've Always Loved You. She transitioned into TV soaps and appeared on Search For Tomorrow, Days of Our Lives, and General Hospital.
Monk Reba
Reba Monk was a flight attendant on an Alaska Airlines airliner that crashed on landing, killing 9 and injuring 17 people. Reba died of burns after helping passengers through the flames. Across the top reads 'Heroine Air Hostess'.

JB Nethercutt was a chemist for his aunt, Merle Norman, and bought out her cosmetics company. He amassed a legendary automobile collection after winning several concourse d'elegance shows at Pebble Beach.

Merle Norman began sharing her skin-care products with family and friends, and with nephew JB Nethercutt, developed and manufactured the Merle Norman brand of cosmetics.
Norvo Red
Red Norvo was one of jazz's early vibraphonists, known as Mr. Swing. He helped establish the xylophone, marimba and later the vibraphone as viable jazz instruments. His major recordings included Dance of the Octopus, Bughouse, Knockin' on Wood, Congo Blues, and Hole in the Wall. He played with Paul Whiteman, Benny Goodman, Charlie Barnet, and Woody Herman. He papered in the movies Screaming Mimi. and 1960's Ocean's 11 backing Dean Martin's "Ain't That a Kick in the Head?"

Cliff Osmond acted in Irma la Douce; Kiss Me, Stupid; The Fortune Cookie; and The Front Page, all directed by Billy Wilder. TV roles were on The Twilight Zone, Ironside, Here's Lucy, All in the Family, The Bob Newhart Show, and Kojak. He wrote an episode of Streets of San Francisco, and wrote and directed the movie The Penitent. Authored the book Acting is Living: Exploring the Ten Essential Elements in any Successful Performance, and taught at UCLA.

Pankhurst Christabel
Dame Christabel Pankhurst, DBE, co-founded the Women's Social and Political Union (WSPU), and directed its militant actions from 1912 to 1913. In the US after the war, she worked as an evangelist for the Second Adventist movement.
