Eric Turner played NFL football, as a safety, for the Browns, Ravens and Raiders. He was the 2nd overall pick in the 1991 NFL Draft, and his $6 million contract, which included a $3.15 million signing bonus, made the first-year compensation a (then) record for a rookie. He died of intestinal cancer at the age of 31, two weeks after claiming he was not gravely ill.
