Fourteen year old Elitha Donner was rescued by the first relief party to reach the stranded Donner encampments in mid-February, 1847, and taken to Sutter's Fort. She later married a worker there, and after his early death, she married Benjamin Wilder and had 6 children. They lived near Elk Grove.
