On the road in the western fringe of Pahrump.
West of Pahrump, headed back to Death Valley.
Approaching Shoshone (again), are these holes in the rocks.
These 'houses' actually stay at a fairly constant cool temperature, compared to 120+ degrees outside in summer.
Hole in the hill just southeast of Shoshone.
Passing the Shoshone Post Office and historic Charles Brown market. Notice the 'DV' on the hillside.
Just north of Shoshone.
I'm going to Death Valley Junction, which confusingly was once called Armagosa, not to be confused with Armagosa Valley Jct.
I'm just south of Death Valley Junction. Eagle Mountain in the distance was about the only interesting thing on the way.
This is the cemetery on the southern outskirts of Death Valley Jct.
I could not figure out how to get closer to these remnants in Death Valley Jct.
This was once Death Valley Junction garage.
This is the historic Armagosa opera house in Death Valley Junction.
A dilapidated sign and the DVJ garage.
Just north of DVJ, looking south toward Eagle Mountain.
West of Death Valley Junction.
A view on the way to Zabriskie Point in Death Valley.
Another moon shot.
And a horizontal shot at the same area.
This one sort of snuck up on me.
You have to walk up the hill to the lookout.
The northerly view at Zabriskie Point.
A westerly view toward the valley.
The southerly view of the hills.
Another moon shot at Zabriskie Point.
A photographer at Zabriskie Point.
A wider southerly view.
Me and my shadow at Zabriskie Point.
Onward toward 20-Mule Team Canyon. I waited for this truck to come by :-)
20-Mule Team Canyon.
20-Mule Team Canyon.
The side of the road in 20-Mule Team Canyon.
Heading toward Dante's View, my last planned stop in Death Valley.
Not far up the road is the 'town' of Ryan, still active.
At Dante's View, at about 5,400 ft up. The plaque points out various features such as snow-covered Telescope Peak, over 11,000 ft high.
Looking northwesterly. Badwater is at the base of the mountain in the lower center.
Coming down the ridgeline from the plaque to another observation area.
The 'other' viewpoint, and snow-covered Telescope Peak in the background.
Past the 'other' viewpoint, you can continue to 'another' viewpoint.
A plant at Dante's View.
Dante's View.
Me and my shadow at Dante's View.
The beginning of the road down.
These are/were the worker's housing at Ryan.
