Jack London was an author, journalist, and social activist. He obtained worldwide fame and fortune in the then-burgeoning commercial magazine fiction. Major novels set in the Klondike gold rush The Call of the Wild, and White Fang. He also wrote of the South Pacific, and of the San Francisco Bay area in The Sea Wolf. At his request, his cremated remains, (and later those of his second wife), are under this boulder in the Jack London State Park in Northern California.
